Crouch End Vampires Football Club - Established 1883
The Crouch End Vampires are of London's oldest, and best, amateur football clubs.
The club field seven teams in the Southern Amateur League (SAL) and are also affiliated to the Amateur Football Alliance (AFA).
Membership
We have a playing membership of just over 100 and around 150 in total. These members are mainly based in the north London area but our weekly newsletter is sent all over the United Kingdom and beyond.
Fourth Team champions
Congratulations go to the fourth team for winning the league title for Minor Division 2 North with four games to spare. Well done boys. Check out the league tables at the Southern Amateur League.
Rood boys
The Vamps are taking 2 teams to Rood Wit this year, one year before the 40th anniversary of attending the annual 'Paastornoi' Easter tournament in Belgium.
Nomads find a home
The Vets recently got together with the Chester Nomads. After getting the match out of the way both teams spent a lot of time reminiscing about the old times and finally worked out they hadn't played each other for fifteen years. A great time was had by all with plenty of drinking, singing and swaying by the end of the evening.
Honolulu baby
Paul Perreta who played for the Vamps' in the late sixties has got in touch from his island retreat in Honolulu. Paul is still following football and has sent this picture from the recent state finals featuring defending state champion Punahou and Kamehameha.
It's a boy
Belated congratulations go to second and third team stalwart Jamie Simmonds on the birth of his first son.
Pompey nut Jamie has thankfully resisted the temptation to name the young one 'Arry, Jim or Nwankwo. Bertie Simmonds we salute you!
Wheels is doing the marathon: Sponsor him!
Mark Wheeler of the sixth team is running the London Marathon in April this year to help raise money for the
fantastic CHICKENSHED theatre company.
CHICKENSHED also runs children's and youth theatre workshops for 600 people, education courses for over 100 students, community outreach projects and a network of satellite 'Sheds' across the country (and one in Russia). Please visit their website www.chickenshed.org.uk to find out more.
Mark has a fairly hefty sum to raise and any donations would be gratefully received by him and all the team at CHICKENSHED.
